Will missing fingerprints on marriage book cause issues later on?

Question

I got married 8 months ago. It is true that Kazi signed the Balaam book but did not take the fingerprints of any of the 2 people. Today I saw at a friend’s wedding that he also took the fingerprints along with the signatures. Now I want to know if the fact that we did not take our fingerprints on the book of Balaam will cause any problems later on? To prove marriage? Badra Kazi Kabin gave me the Nama.

Answer

It’s not a problem. I have never seen fingerprints taken in 3 marriages in my own house. I have not seen fingerprints in any of the cases of dowry or divorce that I have seen. (Though I’m old enough to see it) Moreover, there are many other methods of proving marriage apart from Kabinnama. “Expert opinion” will be sought to check the handwriting if proof is to be given by Kabinnama alone. It will be ordered by the court in view of the application.
