Question
In order to arrest a suspect in a kidnapping case, does the police take any direct action or attempt to contact the suspect from the police station before arresting them? This is to make the suspect aware that a case has been filed against them in the name of impersonation or kidnapping. Because if there is a case in court, the suspect is informed through a summons. So if there is such a case at the police station, will the suspect be notified through any notice? Or will the police only search for the suspect to arrest them once a case has been filed?
Answer
The police can only directly take action to arrest a suspect in a serious (major) crime case at the police station. If there is an allegation of a minor crime, then legally the police can arrest without a warrant. Therefore, there is no need to inform the suspect in advance. In addition, if the suspect is informed in advance, there is a possibility of them escaping.
