Divorce Settlement: Can unemployed pay for it?

Question

Hello, I need some advice regarding my situation. My spouse and I have been married for almost 3 years, but they have not been able to adjust with my family since the beginning. We have been facing family issues for the past 2 years, and now their family is seeking a divorce. Currently, I am unemployed and unable to pay the full amount for the divorce settlement. What should I do in this situation?

Answer

The dower must be given to the wife. You can negotiate with both parties to resolve the matter. If the dower remains unpaid, the wife can file a case against the husband in court. In that case, if you can satisfy the court about your situation, you may be given time or have the opportunity to pay in installments.
